NuWaves is a key supplier of the U.S. Navy’s Tactical Training Range (TTR) programs, which provide tracking of surface and air participants at shore-based sea combat training ranges. NuWaves role in these programs has grown exponentially over the years as a result of consistently providing outstanding results and value to its customers and, most importantly, the warfighter.
NuWaves Engineering has been responsible for the depot-level maintenance of the AN/URY-3 & 4 transceiver module, which is the key element in a time-ordered system used in test, evaluation, and training. NuWaves Engineering will soon begin modernizing the AN/URY-2 transceiver models as well, keeping units that were originally deployed on the F-14 Fighter Jet operational well into the 21st century.
AN/URY-3 & 4 TRANSCEIVER MODULE

NuWaves Engineering has been able to successfully reverse engineer the original AN-URY-3A & 4 transceiver modules to modernize the design and BOM for the AN/URY-5 & -6 system upgrades, to increase manufacturability and drive down cost.
The Relay/Reporter/Responder (R3) Emulator (AN/URY-5) was developed as a form, fit, and function replacement transponder unit for use by the LATR-equipped Tactical Training Ranges (TTR) to supplement the customer’s stock of aging AN/URY-3A and AN/URY-4 R3 transponders.
AN/URY-6 TRANSCEIVER MODULE
The AN/URY-6 transceiver model is a ruggedized version of the AN/URY-5 approved for mounting on fixed wing aircraft.
By applying state-of-the-art design techniques, a two Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) transceiver and power amplifier (PA) system was reduced to a single CCA, while incorporation of varactor-tuned filters in the new design eliminated the need for manual filter tuning and PA matching when changing the operating channel.

NuWaves Engineering has significant experience serving the D.o.D. and saving our customers money by servicing equipment back to full operational capability and reducing the need to replace existing units with newer, more expensive models.
NuWaves has cost-effectively reverse-engineered, analyzed and repaired bidirectional amplifiers (high power pulsed L band T/R modules) used in the TCTS system for TTR customers who had previously been told the units were “beyond economical repair”.
